Song of the Ages
The traditional dwarven belief states that anciently, the dwarves were born of the stone, and of the earth. They do not have any personified deities, but maintain reverence and respect for the earth and the mountains where they live.
As they were born of the stone, so they believe that they return to the stone when they die. Those that have returned to the stone are believed to act as guides and protectors of the dwarven people, and are paid great reverence in a form of ancestor worship.
As such, the dwarves place a lot of emphasis on record keeping, and deep in the mountains there are vaults of records that are as precious as all the gold the dwarves will ever dig up. Those who are in charge of maintaining the records are called the Keepers, and are the closest thing the dwarves have to an established clergy.
